Production of John Cooper Works-tuned cars is all set to resume at MINI plant in Oxford after the launch of the second generation of the new MINI Hatch and MINI Cooper S Clubman. In July 2008, customers can order factory-built MINI that produces 211hp and complete a sprint from 0-62 mph in 6.5 seconds.
Motor sport has heavily influenced the art and the development of these new minis that have a larger twin-scroll turbocharger and direct petrol injection with common rail. The four-cylinder engine has had the same modifications as the MINI CHALLENGE race car, with upgraded brakes, suspension and strengthened gearing. Each day combines to give the car a remarkable output of 132hp per liter combined with 40mpg.

Expected prices for on-the-road is £ 20 500 and the MINI Cooper John Cooper Works and £ 21 700 and the MINI John Cooper Works Clubman. Car will be unveiled to the public for the first time the International Motor Show in Geneva in March 2008.

Engine

The engine has been specially developed for the MINI CHALLENGE race car is equipped with the MINI John Cooper Works cars. The basic unit is a 1.6-liter power plant provided the standard Mini Cooper S, but modifications were made to the air filter, air mass meter, exhaust system and catalytic converters.
